One of the largest events in Guam held every year, the Japan Autumn Festival.

Global Project

From Japan to the World
Supporting Nation-Building Across the Pacific and Beyond

The Global Project Division is responsible for managing international development initiatives, with a primary focus on Official Development Assistance (ODA) projects initiated by the Government of Japan. We also oversee projects funded by organizations such as the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank, handling every stage from feasibility studies to execution and completion.

Our extensive track record includes infrastructure development—airports, bridges, hospitals, and roads—as well as the procurement of essential equipment to meet the needs of local governments in developing countries. In addition to Japan-led ODA projects, we support initiatives funded by other donor nations and provide materials and equipment tailored to local requirements.

Beyond equipment supply, we deliver comprehensive services such as installation management and on-site training. Even after project completion, we maintain close communication with local authorities to ensure effective follow-up and long-term success.

Delivering a Better Quality of Life Worldwide

The Global Project Division provides end-to-end solutions, including equipment procurement, transportation to recipient countries, installation, and training. Our activities extend across the Pacific region, the Caribbean, Central and South America, South Asia, and Africa. We work in diverse sectors such as healthcare, environmental protection, and education, contributing to the resolution of social and economic challenges in developing nations.

Leveraging the local expertise gained through our projects, we also collaborate on feasibility studies to explore how Japan’s small and medium-sized enterprises can apply their advanced technologies and products to ODA initiatives.

In addition to major ODA projects, we supply materials, equipment, and technical solutions to meet the needs of local governments and private companies. Our exports range from construction machinery and cement to everyday necessities, reflecting the diverse demands of the regions we serve.

Many Pacific nations, which form the core of our activities, have limited domestic production capacity and rely heavily on imports for essential goods. To improve the quality of life for local communities, we maintain close communication with governments and businesses, ensuring that the products we provide align with their specific needs. During business trips, we also conduct thorough market research to better understand local requirements and contribute to sustainable social and economic development.

Coast Guard System Strengthening Support Project

Through funding from The Nippon Foundation and the Japan Association of Marine Safety, we have implemented the “Project to Support the Strengthening of the Maritime Security System of the Three Micronesian Countries.” This initiative involved delivering patrol vessels to the Republic of Palau, the Federated States of Micronesia, and the Republic of the Marshall Islands, as well as hosting handover ceremonies.

Since 2011, we have provided regular maintenance and fuel supply for six patrol vessels. This project plays a vital role in strengthening maritime security by enabling patrol operations to combat illegal fishing. Rather than simply supplying equipment, we offer comprehensive after-sales services, including maintenance, to ensure long-term operation and support the future self-reliance of each country’s maritime police.

What is ODA?

Official Development Assistance (ODA) refers to public funds allocated for international cooperation activities led by governments and related organizations, with the primary goal of promoting development in emerging regions. Through ODA, governments or their implementing agencies provide financial resources (grants, loans) and technical expertise to developing countries or international organizations to support peacebuilding, governance, human rights promotion, humanitarian assistance, and other initiatives aimed at fostering development and growth.
